Pinki Patel discovered yoga in India as a teenager. She began her formal study of yoga under the guidance of Gopali Vaccarelli, at Peace of India, and continued her training with Carol Cook and David Thurn at Simply Yoga. She has attended workshops led by Senior Iyengar teachers Kevin Gardiner, Bobbi Goldin, Dean Lerner, Rebecca Lerner, and H.S. Arun. Pinki’s deep interest in yoga and her love of teaching encouraged her to join the teacher training program with Carol Cook and David Thurn at Simply Yoga, which she completed in 2013. She is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200) with the Yoga Alliance.
As a student at the Arsha Bodha Center(Ashram), Pinki studies the Hindu Scriptures – the Upanishads, Vedanta, and the Bhagavad Gita – with Swami Tadatmananda. She also attends weekly guided meditation workshops using various techniques involving pranayama (breathing techniques), chanting, contemplation, and silent meditation.
Pinki is vice president of the South Asian Mental Health Initiative Network (SAMHIN), a non-profit organization. Pinki also conducts weekly classes (“Yoga with Pinki”) at Ericsson where she works as an Executive Director. She is inspired to share the practice of yoga with her students after experiencing its profound benefits in her own life.
