Debra fell in love with yoga in 1970 when she took her first class. The peace and calm it brought prompted her to study for two years with two disciples of Integral Yoga. Over the years she studied with many teachers, including Rodney Yee and teachers at the Iyengar Institute in NYC. It was the attention to alignment and precision in Iyengar yoga that drew Debra to study with Joanne Carter, Carol Cook, Bobbie Goldin, Dean Lerner, and Kevin Gardiner. She completed her teacher training at Simply Yoga in 2008.
Debra has been a faculty member at the Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University, teaching dance, anatomy, and kinesiology as well as yoga since 1990. She is a certified Massage Therapist and Movement Analyst, and has a private practice in Therapeutic Massage and movement re-education.
Debra brings a unique and gentle quality to her teaching, which honors the connections among body, mind, and breath, and cultivates the ability to be present to each moment with awareness and self-acceptance.
